Michaelle Jean Event

An Evening with The Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean

We are proud to help bring a very special guest to our Rundle community along with the Calgary French International School (CFIS) and the Haitian Association of Calgary!

Michaëlle Jean served as Governor General Of Canada from 2005 to 2010. She is the first Haitian Canadian and black person to hold this office. Jean was a refugee who came from Haiti in 1968 and was raised in Quebec. After receiving a number of university degrees, Jean worked as a journalist and broadcaster for Radio-Canada and the CBC. Jean is noted for her attention to the Canadian Forces, Aboriginal Canadians, and the arts, especially youth involvement in them. Mme Jean will speak to equity, diversity and inclusion in Canada, and what that means for our future.

On Monday, February 27, Rundle students in select grades will travel to the Calgary French and International School (CFIS) for a presentation by Michaëlle Jean as part of their Social Studies classes. Other interested students are also welcome to attend.

On the evening of February 27, parents are invited to attend the community presentation. You can purchase your TICKETS HERE.
