Rundle Academy

Grade 4 – Grade 12

Unique among independent schools in Canada, Rundle delivers parallel College and Academy programs on two separate campuses. The Academy program meets the needs of students who have a diagnosed learning disability, with or without ADHD. Our students are in the average to above-average range of intellectual functioning but have difficulties with specific academic activities and skills.

Rundle Academy is a caring learning community where students have the space to develop confidence, self-esteem and motivation to excel academically and grow in their love for learning.

In September 2026, we will open our doors to an expanded Rundle Academy building. When the project is complete, 175 more students with diagnosed learning disabilities will have access to our tailored and specialized education.

Preparing for your Child’s Learning Snapshot

Now that you’ve completed the online portion of your child’s Rundle College K-6 application, you may be wondering “What comes next?” To start, our enrolment team will carefully review your child’s application. If it feels like a great potential fit for Rundle, your child will be invited to attend our Learning Snapshot, our in-house assessment.

During the Learning Snapshot, held at Rundle, your child will spend time with a small group of prospective students. While we assess academics, your child will also join in fun, interactive activities designed to measure initiative, open-mindedness, resilience, self-control, social awareness, and teamwork. Rundle is looking for students who will bring a unique mix of these traits to our community. Our enrolment team is not looking for students who are strong in every area. Rather, the Learning Snapshot is our chance to get to know your child and see how they will thrive here.

If time allows, we’ll finish with a school tour, giving your child a sense of what student life is like at Rundle.

While there is no need to study for the Learning Snapshot, there are some simple ways to help your child prepare: 

  • For the academic piece, remind your child to follow instructions, review and proofread their answers, and show their work to the best of their ability;
  • Ensure a full night’s sleep and eat balanced meals before the Learning Snapshot;
  • Frame the Learning Snapshot as an opportunity to share who they are, rather than a test or exam.

The Learning Snapshot is designed to be an engaging, low-stress experience that allows your child’s personality, thinking process, and collaborative skills to shine. You can help your child approach the day with confidence by focusing on a positive mindset rather than academic preparation. Ultimately, the enrolment team is looking to see who your child is, how they learn, and how they will contribute to Rundle’s vibrant community!
