Understanding Admissions Decisions: Accepted, Wait-Pooled, or Unsuccessful
Published on August 31, 2026
Once your application is complete and our enrolment team has thoroughly reviewed your child’s files, it’s time for the next step in the journey. We look at every application through a lens of “best-fit” alignment – ensuring we can meet your child’s unique academic, social, and emotional needs with the supports we have in place.
Following this review (and an interview, if applicable), applications will move into one of three stages. Here is exactly what each decision means for your family.
1. Accepted (Placement Offered)
If your child is offered a placement at Rundle, congratulations! We believe your child will truly flourish in our community. To officially secure their seat, you will need to complete your enrolment paperwork and submit your initial financial commitments by the deadline in your offer letter.
To finalize enrolment, families are responsible for:
- A Non-Refundable Tuition Deposit: This secures your child’s seat at Rundle
- The Student Facility Fee (Academy and College only): A one-time fee paid per child
- The Family Membership Fee: A one-time fee paid per family
Because demand for placement is high, timely completion of these steps is essential to lock in your child’s spot.
2. Wait-Pooled
Being “wait-pooled” means our team’s review indicated that Rundle is likely a match for your child and that we may be able to support their needs –however, we currently do not have an open seat available in that specific grade.
- How it works: The wait pool remains active until all tuition deposits are finalized for placed families. If a spot opens up between the spring and the start of the school year, our enrolment officers review the pool and invite the next best-fit applicant.
- Looking ahead: If a seat doesn’t open up this year, you can reapply for the following school year at absolutely no extra cost. You don’t need to start from scratch! Simply connect with your enrolment officer in September, and they will personally help roll over the existing application and guide you on how to update it with your child’s latest report cards or assessments.
3. Unsuccessful
If an application is deemed unsuccessful, please know that this decision is made with your child’s long-term well-being in mind. Our ultimate goal at Rundle is to only enrol students we know will genuinely thrive in our environment.
To ensure a healthy fit, we must carefully balance academic programming, social-emotional dynamics, and our available learning support resources. If your child’s application is unsuccessful, our team will always communicate transparently with you to explain why and help provide clarity.
