How Tuition and Giving Work Together at Rundle
Published on November 6, 2025
Each year, we receive thoughtful questions about why an independent school like Rundle, which charges tuition, also asks for donations. It’s a fair and important question, and one that speaks to how we sustain the quality and accessibility of a Rundle education.
As a non-profit organization, Rundle is deeply committed to keeping tuition as low as possible while continuing to offer exceptional programs, dedicated teachers, and a warm, connected community. Tuition covers the core, day-to-day costs of operating the school – the essentials that allow us to open our doors each day – but it doesn’t cover everything that makes Rundle extraordinary.
We intentionally structure our budget so that tuition, subsidized by government grants, funds the essential operating costs of a school, and donations fund the Rundle difference – the things that allow us to maintain the smallest classes, innovate, and thrive.
Your donations directly support:
- Teacher professional development that ensures our educators remain the best in their field.
- Facility improvements and campus enhancements that keep our learning environments inspiring, safe, and up to date.
- The Rundle Bursary Program, which helps families remain part of our community.
By combining tuition and philanthropy, we can achieve more together than tuition alone could ever allow. This approach also benefits families through charitable tax receipts, creating a meaningful way to support Rundle while receiving a financial advantage in return.
As we look ahead to needs like the resurfacing of Hauk Field, improved traffic flow at the College campus, and continued investment in our teachers and programs, we hope to fund initiatives such as these through donations rather than tuition increases.
Every gift—of any size—strengthens Rundle for today’s students and for those who will follow. Thank you for being part of a community that continually demonstrates generosity, care, and belief in our shared mission, vision, and values.
