Rundle at 40: Honouring Ron Carrick’s Devotion

Ever noticed the C-A-R-R-I-C-K letters on the boys basketball jerseys?

While this detail might go unnoticed by many, those seven letters pay tribute to a cherished figure from our history: Ronald B. Carrick.

(Ronald B. Carrick, 2019)

Ronald was an early and passionate supporter of the vision that helped build Rundle from its humble beginnings. Joining the Board of Directors in 1988, he became our school’s first non-founding Director and volunteered his time and leadership for an impactful 25 years. Continuing the Carrick legacy at Rundle, his son, Reg Carrick, was also a proud Rundle student, graduating in 1992 and delivering the valedictory address.

Beyond Ron’s leadership and dedication to Rundle, he always had a keen interest in the basketball program, leading him to make a generous donation to the boys basketball team, providing new jerseys at a time when such expenses were far beyond Rundle’s means.

Those jerseys served our athletes for decades. So, following Mr. Carrick’s passing in 2019, when it came time to fundraise for new uniforms, Rundle honoured his impactful legacy on our school. Today, our Rundle College boys’ basketball jerseys proudly carries his name, the number he wore during his school football career (#11), and Reg Carrick’s basketball number (#47), a lasting tribute to this man who helped shape Rundle’s story.
