We are excited that this team of passionate teachers, with decades worth of experience educating students with learning disabilities, work alongside our students at Rundle Studio every day.
Mr. John Wolf | Principal
I started with Rundle Academy in September of 2005 with over a decade of experience working with students with learning disabilities. During my time at the Academy, I taught in elementary and junior high programs and held divisional and curriculum leadership positions. Over the span of my teaching career, I have taught in several schools including international teaching experiences in Mexico, the Dominican Republic, and Singapore.
I hold a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Winnipeg and a Master of Education in Administration. I am married to my wife, Caley, and we have two sons, Zachary and Crosby.
I enjoy travelling, reading, and playing almost any sport. A glutton for punishment, I have participated in several marathons and ultra-marathons including the Oxfam Trailwalker 100 km race in Hong Kong and the Borneo Ultra Trail Marathon.
As part of giving back to the community, I have helped raise money for the Tabitha Foundation of Cambodia and participated in a house-building program. I continue to volunteer at Soup Sisters, raise money for Movember, and I am proud to sponsor the Rundle Gives program – which helps Rundle achieve our mission and benefit our students.
I am honoured to be leading Rundle Studio which combines opportunity and equity beyond the walls of a building.
Mrs. Tisha Mellor | Teacher
I received my Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Calgary and before teaching at Rundle, I taught at another independent school for individuals with special needs. In the fall of 2004, I started teaching at Rundle Academy in the elementary division. I have over 15 years of experience working with students who have learning disabilities. During the past several years I have tutored at all three divisions, both in-person and online. Teaching online is so unique as it blends the best practices of teaching with excellent technology.
I am married with two children. During my leisure time, I enjoy spending time in the mountains with my family and friends. I also enjoy camping, hiking, biking, and swimming in the summer and cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing in the winter.
As part of giving back to the community, I helped build the Academy school playground in 2014. I have also raised funds for the diabetes association and I volunteer for my community hockey league with fundraising and tournaments.
Mrs. Danna Euverman | Teacher
I grew up in the state of Michigan and taught math at the middle school and high school levels for five years in the district where I grew up. When I moved to Washington, DC, in 2015 I taught at a middle school for two years — go Yellowjackets! I wrapped up my teaching career in the US as a Special Education Coordinator working closely with families during the special education process. I also supported teachers in their classrooms and building administrators with state and federal regulations. I have over a decade of experience working with students with disabilities.
I earned my Bachelor of Education degree from Central Michigan University and a Masters of Education in Leadership from Saginaw Valley State University.
My husband, Jared, and I have been married since 2019 and our pride and joy is our hairless dogs Mochi and Simon. My family resides in Michigan, and I have many friends scattered around the states.
Teaching community fitness classes in Calgary is a passion of mine and I love to be active, travel, explore the city of Calgary, and try new restaurants in the area. I moved to Calgary in September 2019 and I love it when I get recommendations to local attractions, restaurants, and “Calgary staples” to explore with our family and friends.
I look forward to continuing working with our students! I believe that Rundle Studio provides a safe and engaging environment for students to reach their full potential “in the cloud”. Let’s have some fun reaching that potential!
Mrs. Karen Goepen-Wee | Teacher
I began teaching at Rundle College in 2009 and moved to Rundle Academy in 2014. Prior to that, I taught for nine years in a variety of educational settings throughout the province of Alberta. During the last 21 years, I have worked extensively with students with learning disabilities and ADHD. I earned my Bachelor of Arts (Honours) and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Calgary. Most recently I completed my Masters of Education in Interdisciplinary Studies, focusing on Educational Neuroscience and Supporting Mental Health in Children. Teaching at Rundle Studio enables me to break down access barriers and work one-on-one with students in a highly personalized online environment.
I am happily married to my husband Ben and our two sons, Linden and Tucker, attend Rundle College, too.
I enjoy music, gardening, reading, camping, cooking, and travelling in my free time. As a family, we are always planning new overseas adventures.
I am proud to support the Rundle Gives program, The TED-Ed Club and TEDx Program, and a number of music and art initiatives throughout Calgary and Alberta.
Ms. Briana Trendov | Teacher
In 2016, I moved from Ontario to Alberta to begin my career teaching junior high mathematics and senior high humanities. Within my previous division, I worked alongside other educational leaders in a SIOP team (Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol), dedicated to designing lessons and activities that would effectively support the language needs of diverse learners.
My passion for education led me to complete my Professional Master of Education from Queen’s University, with a focus on becoming a classroom specialist. And at Rundle Studio we celebrate the boundless possibilities of online education, where diverse learners thrive with personalized opportunities to showcase their individual strengths.
Outside the classroom, you will often find me immersing myself in the great outdoors. Whether it’s hiking to reach a summit, or carving slopes on my snowboard, I love the rush of adrenaline that comes with each adventure! Yoga and barre keep me grounded, while spin classes and running motivate me to challenge myself and achieve new personal records.
In the spirit of giving back to the community, I actively participate in various community fundraising events, such as the Terry Fox Run.
Ms. Alice Song | Teacher
I started my teaching career in Edmonton, after graduating from the University of Alberta and obtaining my B.Ed with a major in Mathematics and a minor in Biology in 2016. I taught two years of junior and senior high mathematics for students with learning disabilities in Edmonton and continued to teach another three years of secondary mathematics and science in Calgary, where I grew up. I then moved to Vancouver to teach another two years of secondary mathematics. I completed my Master of Education from the University of Calgary specializing in Educational Leadership in 2023 and I am passionate to implement what I’ve learned to better support our students at Rundle Studio. Rundle Studio is the definition of flexible and personalized learning!
Outside of the classroom, I love to explore food places in town, travel and spend time outdoors biking and playing pickleball.
Ms. Kathy Butterfield | Teacher
Growing up in Bamfield, a small village on Vancouver Island’s west coast, instilled in me curiosity, adaptability, and a deep appreciation for relationships that continue to guide my teaching. I went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Calgary, concentrating in Criminology, Social Control, and Deviance, which strengthened my ability to analyze systems, consider multiple perspectives, and think critically about society. I later completed a Bachelor of Education in Secondary Social Studies, which developed my capacity to design instruction that fosters inquiry, builds evidence-based reasoning, and encourages the thoughtful expression of ideas.
My teaching experience spans Grades 5–12 in independent, charter, and public schools across Calgary. In those settings, I developed a strong grounding in curriculum design while also using inquiry learning and digital tools to make content more accessible. Beyond the classroom, my background as an elite athlete has shaped how I coach and lead experiential programs, helping students build confidence, resilience, and capacity. At Rundle Studio, I aim to bring these strengths together to design learning that is both meaningful and connected to real-world application.
Outside the classroom, I enjoy exploring ideas in policy and politics. I spend much of my time outdoors hiking, mountain biking, and skiing in the winter months, often accompanied by my two big dogs, Tilley and Buster.
Mr. Erick Walters | Teacher
I was born in Montreal and moved to the Lower Mainland of B.C. at a young age. Growing up on the coast nurtured a love of the outdoors and nature. I completed my Bachelor of Arts in History and Bachelor of Education in Secondary at UBC before making my way across the country. I began my teaching career in 1996 in B.C., spent some time teaching in Edmonton and then on to Mississauga, Ontario before returning to the Lower Mainland.
Over the years I have worked with all age groups and abilities from Kindergarten to Grade 12, both in-person and online. The integration of relevant technologies with an emphasis on the design process and computational thinking has been a focus of my practice in recent years and I am currently completing my Master of Educational Technology program through the University of British Columbia. I moved to Calgary in 2022. Working at Rundle Studio is an exciting opportunity to be part of cutting edge pedagogy and educational technology.
When we aren’t at home experimenting with new vegan recipes, my partner Julia and I can frequently be seen on the pathways or at the parks with our rescue dog. I have two grown children who live in the Fraser Valley outside of Vancouver. We get together as often as we can to hike, explore new restaurants, watch the latest movies and (most recently) have been trying our luck with golf.
